ARASHI's Kazunari Ninomiya Stars In "Door To Door"

Arashi's Kazunari Ninomiya is starring in a TBS drama special called "DOOR TO DOOR." This is the third and last in the network's "kandou drama" series, which includes last year's "Marathon" and 2006's "Sukoshi wa, Ongaeshi ga Dekita Kana." Ninomiya also starred in those two specials.

These dramas are based on true stories about young men overcoming illnesses. "DOOR TO DOOR" is inspired by Bill Porter, an American door-to-door salesman who achieved the highest sales for his company despite suffering from cerebral palsy. In the U.S., Porter's story became a successful book, and it was turned into an Emmy-nominated made-for-TV movie on the TNT network in 2002.

TBS's version of "DOOR TO DOOR" is set in Japan, with Ninomiya playing the lead as a man named Hideo Kurasawa. His supporting cast includes Kanako Higuchi as his mother and Rosa Kato as a co-worker. Filming started on Sunday. TBS will air the drama on March 29 at 9:00pm.

Arashi Transforms Into Tatsunoko Heroes

The animated PV for Arashi's next single, "Believe," is a collaboration with animation studio Tatsunoko. The collaboration is linked to the upcoming live-action movie based on Tatsunoko's "Yatterman" franchise, which stars Arashi member Sho Sakurai and uses "Believe" as its theme song.

In the music video, each of the five Arashi members will "transform" into a character from a different Tatsunoko series. Sakurai will obviously take on the role of Yatterman No. 1. The other shows being used are "Yattodetaman" (Kazunari Ninomiya), "Time Bokan" (Satoshi Ohno), "Otasukeman" (Masaki Aiba), and "Zenderman" (Jun Matsumoto).

The "Yatterman" movie opens on March 7. "Believe" goes on sale as a CD single on March 4, the same day the PV becomes available through media site Dwango. A live-action music video for "Believe" is also being made.

As a tie-in with his new drama series "Uta no Oniisan," Arashi's Satoshi Ohno will be releasing his first solo single. Titled "Kumorinochi, Kaisei," the song is being used as the show's theme, and it will be released under the name of his character, Kenta Yano.

The tune is scheduled for release on March 4 as a double A-side with Arashi's 25th single, "Believe."

Early next year, Masaki Aiba of Arashi will be starring in a new stage production titled "Greenfingers," adapted from the 2000 movie of the same name that was directed by Joel Hershman. The original film was based on a true story about a group of British prisoners who take up gardening and go on to compete in a major flower show.

Mikijiro Hira, Aiko Ito, and Jundai Yamada will play supporting roles. "Greenfingers" will be performed in Tokyo at the Aoyama Theatre from February 23 to March 10, and in Osaka at the Umeda Arts Theater from March 20 to March 23.

Concert In Seoul!

Popular Japanese pop group Arashi whipped thousands of Korean fans into a state of frenzy, as they staged four sold-out concerts in Seoul over the weekend. It has been two years since Arashi performed in Seoul, but judging from the deafening screams at the Olympic Fencing Stadium, their fans are as crazy about them as ever. The group is in the middle of a three-city Asian tour, ``Arashi Around Asia 2008."

Arashi, composed of Masaki Aiba, Jun Matsumoto, Kazunari Ninomiya, Satoshi Ohno and Sho Sakurai, opened the concert with ``Love So Sweet." The song was the theme song for the popular Japanese drama ``Hana Yori Dango Returns (Boys Over Flowers)." Throughout the nearly three-hour concert, Arashi performed many of their hit songs ``Step and Go," ``Happiness," ``Kitto Daijoubu (You'll Definitely be Okay)," ``We Can Make It," and ``Truth."

Each of the members had solo performances, showing off their distinct personalities and talents. Sakura rapped and danced to ``Hip Pop Boogie, while Aiba sang a cheerful number ``Hello Goodbye." Ninomiya played the piano while singing ``Niji (Rainbow)," and Ohno showed off his smooth vocals and dance moves to ``Take Me Faraway."

Matsumoto grabbed attention when he walked upside down on the ceiling, before flipping down and performing ``Yabai Yabai Yabai."

Arashi definitely knew how to please the Korean audience. Even though they spoke mainly in Japanese, group members sprinkled their comments with Korean phrases throughout the concert. They even included Korean lyrics in some songs, such as ``A-RA-SHI."

Sakurai even showed off the Wonder Girls' dance steps for the hit song ``Nobody," while the crowd sang the lyrics.

At their last concert Sunday evening, Arashi gave four encores before finally ending with the upbeat ``Fight Song."

Fans could not seem to get enough of the Japanese group. Matsumoto promised to return for a third ``Arashi Around Asia" tour.

An estimated 30,000 fans watched the four concerts Saturday and Sunday, including several hundred Japanese fans.

Even with little promotion about the concerts, tickets sold like hotcakes, with all three concerts being sold out on Auction.com in 30 minutes. Organizers had to add another concert, which once again sold out immediately.

Drama Grand Prix: "Maou" Takes 4 Out Of 5

Last week, Nikkan Sports announced the results of its summer survey for the Nikkan Sports Drama Grand Prix. A total of 24,757 votes were collected between September 25 and October 4. The big winner this time was the TBS series "Maou," winning in all four categories that it was nominated for.

The show received about 12,600 votes for Best Drama, handily beating "Code Blue" by close to 5,000 votes. At #3 was "33-pun Tantei," far behind at only 1,300 votes, followed by "Atsuhime" and "Shibatora" with less than 800 votes apiece.

Satoshi Ohno beat Tomohisa Yamashita in the Best Actor category by roughly 2,500 votes. "Maou" co-star Toma Ikuta also made the list at #3.

For Best Supporting Actor, Kei Tanaka edged out the competition, and the top 5 were all either from "Maou" or "Code Blue." Ryoko Kobayashi gave "Maou" its fourth award as Best Supporting Actress, while the rest of the votes were split among the three female leads from "Code Blue" and Mikako Tabe.

The only category that "Maou" didn't win was the Best Actress award, due to its lack of a starring female role. Aoi Miyazaki received about 8,200 votes for her role in "Atsuhime," with young star Mirai Shida ( "Seigi no Mikata" ) trailing by 3,500 votes to land in second.

"Ryusei No Kizuna" Shoots Over 21%

The fall drama season is almost in full swing, and the ratings so far seem promising. TBS' highly anticipated "Ryusei no Kizuna" premiered on Friday, and ratings data indicates that the first episode averaged 21.2%, marking the best start so far this season. It is the second series to surpass the 20% barrier, as "Kaze no Garden" debuted at 20.1% and stayed strong at 18.0% in its second week.

A few other dramas have started well. "Celeb to Binbou Taro" hit 17.6%, while "SCANDAL" achieved 16.9%. This week also marks the premiere of the Fuji TV production "Innocent Love" and the 7th season of the popular detective drama "Aibou."

Arashi Arrives In Taipei For AAA2008 Concert

Popular Japanese Johnny's pop group Arashi arrived at Taipei Airport 11:50am on the 10th of October flying ANA flight no. NH1081. They will be staging their AAA2008 concert at the Taipei Arena over coming 2 days on the 11th & 12th of October. The concert has not started yet you can feel the overwhelming sense of popularity at the airport. Once Arashi landed at Taipei Airport, they were greeted by 400 to 500 screaming fans.

On the stage, the performance will include Ohno Satoshi, Sakuri Sho, Aiba Masaki, Ninomiya Kazunari and Matsumoto Jun. The production/backstage & cast for the AAA2008 concert is said to be historically one of the biggest for Taipei Arena with backstage cast of 200 people and costumes including 300 items. The backstage dancers will including Johnny's Junior groups 'M.A.D' and 'Boys' as supporting cast. There will be many AAA2008 souvenirs for sale at least 11 types including of t-shirts, poncho, penlight, towel etc. Arashi will be leaving Taipei on 13th of October at 9:45am flying ANA NH1084.

Japanese idol group Arashi returns to Seoul for a series of concerts in November as part of its Asian tour. One of the most popular J-pop groups in Korea, Arashi will hold concerts Nov. 1-2 at the Olympic Fencing Stadium, Olympic Park, southern Seoul. The ``Arashi Around Asia" tour kicked off Sept. 5 with the group's first outdoor concert at the National Stadium, Tokyo. Arashi will perform in Taipei, Taiwan Oct. 11-12, and Shanghai, China Nov. 15.Arashi first performed in Korea in September 2006, as Japan's representative to the 2006 Asia Song Festival in Gwangju. The group returned in November of the same year for four sold-out concerts at Olympic Hall.Arashi, one of the idol groups under Johnny's Entertainment, was formed in 1999. Arashi, which means storm in Japanese, is composed of Masaki Aiba, Jun Matsumoto, Kazunari Ninomiya, Satoshi Ohno and Sho Sakurai. BOYS Over Flowers The Movie is all about how true love overcomes all odds. But, love turns out to be a taboo subject for the leading couple Jun Matsumoto and Mao Inoue.

In a short e-mail interview with The New Paper, they both left our questions about love unanswered. Instead, they were happier talking about their roles - he plays the overbearing, hot-headed millionaire's heir Tsukasa Domyouji, while she is his ordinary but tough-as-nails fiancee Tsukushi Makino.

The Japanese movie, which is the final chapter of the two-season drama serial Hana Yori Dango (or Meteor Garden), tells of how the couple travel to Los Angeles and Hong Kong to find a stolen tiara. It opens here on Thursday.

Q: What do you think is the biggest appeal of Domyouji? What's your best memory of being Domyouji?

A: I think his charm lies in how he is straightforward in everything he does and how he cares for Makino. After playing Domyouji, I got influenced by how he can believe in people so strongly.

Q: How's your relationship with the other three F4 members in real life? Please share with us a little-known fact about each of them - Shun Oguri, Tsuyoshi Abe, Shota Matsuda.

A: I've known Shun for a long time. He has huge passion for acting. As for Shota, he made me laugh during filming. I think he's changed the most in the show. Abe-kun is a very kind person. He is a gentle person who watches over everyone.

Q: The movies marks the end of the Hana Yori Dango series after three years. Are you sad to let it go, or glad that it's finally over?

A: I believe I've done all that I can for this role. It's a very satisfactory final chapter for me. The strong bond that was built among us left a huge impression on me. I believe when you watch this movie, you will definitely feel it.

Q: In many ways you're like Domyouji, don't you think? He is used to getting what he wants, and everyone fawns over him. You, as leader of boy band Arashi, should also be used to being the VIP and having fans fawn over you. In what other ways do you think you're most like him? Is your opinion/belief on love the same as Domyouji's too?

A: I don't have so much money like him (laughs)! I think I have nothing much in common with him.

Q: Domyouji had to choose between his beloved Makino and his wealthy family. In real life, would you give up fame for love? What's the biggest sacrifice you've ever made in the name of love?

Q: A large part of the movie is about romance. Personally for you, what is the ideal romantic date?

Q: What do you think is the biggest appeal of Makino? What's your best memory of being Makino?

A: Her unselfishness and straightforwardness for everything, and her 'Tsukushi Punch'. I have punched many people (in the drama series), but the first time I punched Domyouji left me a deep impression.

Q: Makino is a very frank, daring girl who pursues her love in the show. Are you like her in that way?

A: We're alike in that sometimes we can't make up our mind, but once we do, we'd just go straight ahead and do it.

Q: Makino was initially torn between Domyouji and Hanazawa. In real life, who do you find more attractive - Jun Matsumoto or Shun Oguri? How was it working with both of them?

Q: Domyouji says to Makino: 'She has stolen my heart forever' and 'I will stake my life on caring for and protecting you'. Which is a more romantic declaration for you? In real life, how can a guy win your heart?

A: I'm very happy that I was able to produce another piece of work for the series. It was a big challenge but it also presented a big opportunity for us.

Arashi's newest single, "truth / Kaze no Mukou e," dominated the singles chart this past week at 467,000 in sales. This sets the new 2008 record for opening week sales, surpassing KAT-TUN's "DON'T U EVER STOP," which sold an initial 382,000 in May. Arashi also holds the record for best-selling single so far this year with "One Love" currently at 492,000, though "truth" is already close to overtaking it.

Porno Graffiti's "Gift" took #2 with a comparatively low 58,000 in sales, while the "Macross Frontier" song "Lion" came in at #3, trailing by only about a thousand copies. Buono! also made the top ten as "Gachinko de Ikou!" ranked #6.

On the albums chart, Namie Amuro held the #1 seat for her fourth straight week, moving an additional 88,000 copies of "BEST FICTION." The closest new Japanese release was "Makai Yuugi," the album for the "Detroit Metal City" movie, making #4 at 20,000 copies.

At the meeting place where Tsukushi and Tsukasa had their first date, they walked down the red carpet in their wedding gown and tuxedo. The new jdorama of Ohno Satoshi or riddai! Featured the former Arashi member Ikuta Toma

This drama is a remake of the popular suspense drama The Devil that was aired in Korea last year. Ohno Satoshi will be playing the role of a two-faced lawyer, one of which is a kind hearted soul and the other who is plotting revenge, using his brilliant mind, on the person who killed his relative. On the other hand, Ikuta Toma will play the double lead role of the man, who has become a detective due to his dark past, who is pursuing the mysterious series of murders and fighting against the devil (maou). Ikuta Toma was a detective in that Jdorama. Satoshi said to be a Silent Killer thier because he planned everything and killed those people who are related to Ikuta. The jdorama is already in episode seven and next week will be the Ep. 8..

The theme song of the Dorama was Sung By a Group ARASHI! entitked "truth". This song was released on August 20 2008.

Jun Matsumoto "24 Hours"

Arashi member Jun Matsumoto will star in a drama special that is being broadcast as part of NTV's charity program "24 Hour Television." Titled "Myu no Anyo, Papa ni Ageru," the drama will air on August 30. The drama is based on a true story about a young man (played by Matsumoto) who learns he has a rare illness known as CIDP, which affects the nervous system. He begins to lose the functioning of his limbs, but he is determined to fight the illness with the support of his wife (Karina) and his 2-year-old daughter, Myu-chan. Matsumoto, along with the rest of Arashi and actress Yukie Nakama, has already been announced as a host for "24 Hour Television," scheduled for August 30-31.
